Content is King: Pocket God Releases Unprecedented 40th Update

IGN.com | 11 August 2011 12:00

Developers commend community for support, app with most content updates on iOS App Store continues to lead the pack.

San Francisco - How many content-filled updates does it take for an app to proclaim it has enough content to rule them all? Answer: 40. Leaving every other app in the dust, Bolt Creative today announced that best-selling Pygmy torture simulator Pocket God has received a monumental 40th update, a feat unmatched by any other title on the App Store. With millions of downloads for the original app, and not even including Pocket God: Journey to Uranus or Pocket God Comics, Pocket God has won the hearts of players all over the globe while also contributing to endless bouts of maniacal laughter. BWAHAHAHA…sorry, just witnessed a race for "food" between a zombie Pygmy and a giant spider. The zombie won.

Pocket God's 40th update, entitled "Battle of the Gods," is also massive in its own right and becomes the largest content expansion to date for the popular title. Episode 39 introduced God Idols and God Island to the Pocket God world, encouraging players to revisit Pocket God's plethora of mini-games to obtain said idols. In Episode 40, players will now use up to four of these idols in a showdown against one of 40 gods on God Island. Each God Idol has a different attack—Fast, Counter, and Strong—with each idol having its own weakness based on its type of attack: Fast beats Strong, Strong beats Counter, Counter beats Fast. Each episodic update going forward will feature a new idol to obtain and a new god to battle.

Players can also grab up the new Mafia skin pack, a $ 0.99 in-app purchase inspired by mafia culture, which offers players the ability to change the volcano into the New York skyline, replace the statue on Sand Island with a Pygmy wearing cement shoes, turn the moon into a pizza pie, and more!

"Without the undying support of our fans, Pocket God could never be where it is today, and we truly thank each and every person from the community for their support and for allowing us to continue working on this dream project of ours," said Dave Castelnuovo, CEO of Bolt Creative. "We'll continue developing new updates to the game, listen and take suggestions from Pocket God devotees, and maintain our status as the number one content provider on the App Store."
