ZombieSmash Review
by Levi Buchanan - IGN.com | 26 March 2010 12:00Break those undead backs.
Zombies absolutely cannot cut a break on the iPhone. ZombieSmash is the latest game that subjects these shambling horrors to mayhem and destruction, as you flick them away from your farmhouse during a month-long onslaught. Your index finger isn't the only weapon, though. Supply crates containing pistols, boulders, cinderblock, landmines, and wrecking balls fall from the sky. Bank these power-ups and use them at just the right moment to repel a particularly tough crowd or one of the hefty zombies you cannot lift with your finger. ZombieSmash is not an entirely new concept. The App Store hosts a number of these "castle defense" games where you must repel wave after wave of enemies. (Knights OnRush is a great example of the genre.) But ZombieSmash does a fine job providing an easy, pick-up-and-play dose of bedlam. Flinging away zombies is simple to "get" within the first few seconds. The appearance of weapons really kicks ZombieSmash into high gear. It's good fun to drop a cinderblock on a burly zombie just as he swings his meathooks into your front door.
Closing Comments
ZombieSmash isn’t just loaded with fun, there are quite a few chuckles in here, too. Flattening zombies with rocks and blasting them with your wrecking balls results in goofy explosions of cartoon gore. As the month of frights continues, the action gets more frantic. Your finger will be all over that screen. Couple a fun game with great visuals and music, and you have a download that’s easy to recommend.
