Mega Man 10 Review PS3
Genre: Action
Posted: 11 March 2010
One of the most common themes in discussions and arguments among gaming aficionados is the idea of endless industry progression. Games are supposed to become more and more beautiful as time goes on. Accompanying soundtracks are supposed to become increasingly epic. Storytelling should become more seamless and enthralling. Ingenious methods of gameplay are expected to push us into the great unknown of the medium. And that's fine. For the most part, such notions are what keep our beloved industry trucking forward, dropping jaws and bloodying thumbs in the process. But when you play a game like Mega Man 10, delivered by Capcom to its old-school fans as yet another offering following the 2008 release of Mega Man 9, you realize that stagnation and regression can

Fatal Fury Special Review Wii

It's been over a year. The Virtual Console went without a new Neo Geo release in America for over a year -- the entire 12 months of 2009 were skipped over with zero fresh additions to the emulated SNK lineup. But, now, the hiatus is over.

God of War III Review PS3
Genre: Action
Posted: 08 March 2010
After three years of development and three very long years of waiting, the end is finally upon us. God of War III marks the finale to Kratos' search for revenge and properly caps off a trilogy that ranks near the very top of the best action games ever list. Yes indeed, everything does come to a complete and decisive close by the end, and though it may not be the last that we've seen of the franchise, this really is the end of this tale.

It hurts to breathe, you can't see, and hot plasma is still burning in your left leg, making you dizzy. Around the next corner is a Covenant patrol – four Grunts and an armoured Brute soldier, looking for survivors. You're an ODST, and there's no big, green hero coming to save you this time.

Happy Hammerin' Review Wii

Happy Hammerin' is Whack-a-Mole on WiiWare, based on an old standby -- the mechanical, mallet-equipped animatronic mole mashing machines you remember from birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese when you were seven.

Final Fantasy I Review iPhone
Genre: RPG

Final Fantasy is not just a videogame, it's an institution. At some point, these titles became critic-proof, which is too bad because recognizing that shortcomings of classics is how games get better.

Final Fantasy II Review iPhone
Genre: RPG
Posted: 25 February 2010
Based on the 2007 PlayStation Portland remake, Final Fantasy II on iPhone looks and sounds fantastic. But this RPG is as divisive as ever. Some love the exploitable proficiency system while others miss the traditional leveling up that has defines RPGs for ages.

Greed Corp. Review XBox 360
Genre: Strategy
Posted: 24 February 2010
In the style of heady German board games like Carcassone and Catan comes Greed Corp., a fascinating strategy game taking place in a new fantasy world called Mistbound. There is a major difference, though -- whereas Carcassonne and Catan are about building and cooperating, Greed Corp. is about beautiful destruction. This is a highly polished first effort from W!Games and is a welcome addition to Xbox Live Arcade.

Fret Nice Review XBox 360
Genre: Music,Action
Posted: 24 February 2010
How many times have you played Super Mario Bros. and thought to yourself, "This is ok I guess, but I really wish I could play this with a Guitar Hero controller." Never? Oh…well, you get to anyway! Fret Nice is a musical platformer that can be controlled entirely with a guitar peripheral. I say can be because the game mercifully doesn't require a guitar and actually plays much better with a regular controller. Without the gimmick, though, Fret Nice becomes a pretty standard affair. It's got a unique art style and some kick ass tunes, but the gameplay was designed around a novelty that doesn't really work.

WireWay Review iPhone
Genre: Puzzle,Action
Posted: 17 February 2010
WireWay is one of a recent horde of games that appeared on the Nintendo DS but have now made their way over to the iPhone. This is often a boon for owners of Apple's touchscreen devices as it gives them access to better-looking and cheaper versions of hit games. For WireWay though, this is only partly the case. While it is cheaper than Nintendo's cartridge, it doesn't fare as well.

Having destroyed sales records in its first hours of release, Modern Warfare 2 looks comfortably set to be one of the biggest games of the year, and the sequel tries hard to earn that title. Top-shelf competitive multiplayer and an engaging campaign make for one of the more individual shooters to date.

Heavy Rain is a hell of an experience. Its controversial control scheme actually works really well in allowing the fantastic story to dictate how events play out, and many of the game's scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat.
