Global post for Waitakere mayor

Waitakere City Mayor Bob Harvey has been appointed to the executive committee of Mayors for Peace, a global organisation of over 2400 mayors.

The organisation was established to represent the security interests of citizens in cities around the world and has a strong focus on promoting the global abolition and elimination of nuclear weapons.

Mr Harvey, who was last year elected as president of the New Zealand's Peace Foundation, joins mayors from cities in 12 other countries on the committee.
