Charlesworth cleans up at Junior Badminton International

Waitakere 17-year-old Luke Charlesworth won all three titles on offer at the New Zealand Junior Badminton International in Auckland today.

Charlesworth beat Praveen Tayalan (Counties) 21-17 17-21 21-14 in the men's singles final in a drawn-out match which took 45 minutes.

He then teamed up with North Harbour's Brock Matheson in the men's doubles to defeat Josh Curry (Manawatu) and Dhanny Oud (Auckland) for the title 21-11 22-20.

To cap off a good day of results Charlesworth and Mary O'Connor (Waitakere) had a 21-18 21-18 win over Matheson and Waikato's Amanda Brown in the mixed final which took 26 minutes to complete.

The women's singles had Australian Victoria Na defeating Auckland's Victoria Cheng 21-13 21-14.

The women's doubles saw the duo of Anona Pak (North Harbour) and Waikato's Madeline Stapleton win a three-game battle against Counties Mikayla Moore and Australian Na 21-23 21-16 21-17.
