Lorenzo takes pole for Italian Moto GP
31 May 2009 10:33amJorge Lorenzo will start Sunday's Italian Moto Grand Prix from pole position after recording the fastest time in Saturday's qualifying.
The championship leader clocked 1 minute, 48.987 seconds on his Yamaha to edge Ducati's Casey Stoner by 0.021 seconds.
Lorenzo is seeking a third win of the season, while Stoner is aiming for his second after winning in Qatar.
Loris Capirossi of Italy will start third after clocking 1:49.121 on his Suzuki, while Valentino Rossi will struggle to secure his eighth straight Italian GP win after only managing the fourth best time - 1:49.148.
