McCaw named short term chief executive of NZRL

The New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) has contracted Murray McCaw on a short-term appointment as chief executive.

Chairman Ray Haffenden said today McCaw will hold the position until the independent review of the NZRL's governance and administration is completed.

A permanent chief executive will be appointed once the review process is completed early next year.

" It makes sense to delay the appointment of a permanent CEO until we know the outcome of the review and what the future direction of the organisation will be," Haffenden said.

"Murray McCaw is a highly-experienced business leader and will be a major asset to the NZRL as it revises its strategic and commercial frameworks."

Sport and Recreation New Zealand (Sparc) is supporting the NRZL with the review process and chief executive Peter Miskimmin welcomed the appointment.

" The short-term appointment provides the NZRL with the services of a skilled high level administrator, appropriate for the organisation while it goes through the review process."

The review committee, chaired by Sir John Anderson, was appointed in July and aims to present a draft report to the NZRL board in November.
