Aussie bookies favour Warriors
16 September 2008 05:20pmThe New Zealand Warriors are rated favourites by Australian betting agency TAB Sportsbet to get past the Sydney Roosters in their National Rugby League clash in Auckland on Friday night.
The Warriors were today listed at $1.60 to take out the semifinal at Mt Smart Stadium, while the Roosters were at $2.30.
They are a fraction shorter on the New Zealand TAB, at $1.57 to the Roosters' $2.30.
The winners will face Manly in Sydney next weekend for a spot in the grand final.
Both agencies said betting in the other semifinal, between Brisbane and Melbourne on Saturday night, was suspended in the wake of sex assault allegations involving three Bronco players.
The agency said it was awaiting further news out of Brisbane regarding player availability.
For the same reason, betting on the evenutal winners of the premiership was also suspended.
However, a Sportsbet spokesman said the Warriors had been at $13 to take the title immediately after their upset victory over Melbourne on Sunday.
That was down from $67 leading into the match with the Storm.
