Henderson helps teammate win stage
19 June 2009 11:58amNew Zealand cyclist Greg Henderson played his supporting role perfectly on day two of the Ster Elektrotoer tour in the Netherlands today, leading out team spearhead Andre Greipel before crossing in fourth place.
Greipel sprinted to his eighth stage win of the season, though he was quick to credit his Team Columbia-Highroad teammate after claiming the 175km stage from Eindhoven to Sittard.
"Greg gave me a perfect lead out in the last 200 metres," Greipel said.
The German beat Danilo Napolitano (Italy) and Belgian Tom Boonen -- who has been barred from the Tour de France after testing positive to cocaine.
Henderson was next home in the bunched sprint, while fellow New Zealand Olympian Hayden Roulston was 4secs back in 87th -- though he is 10th overall.
Roulston is 12 seconds down on Dutch leader Niki Terpstra, who won the tour opening prologue. Henderson is a second further back in 12th.
Dutch rider Lieuwe Westra is second and Boonen third, 2secs behind Terpstra.
The next stage is a 179km circuit around Nuth which includes six climbs.
