The north and west from Northland to Manawatu, including Bay of Plenty
Showers, some heavy and sqaully this evening, with hail. Southwesterlies rising to gale in exposed places. Snow to 500 metres on the central high country overnight. Tomorrow, showers clearing from most places and winds easing, but a few remaining about the west coast.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Wellington, Kapiti and Marlborough
A strong cold southerly change spreading north to reach Wellington by evening and Gisborne overnight, with rain, some thunder and hail, and snow to 400 metres in the south. Becoming fine tomorrow.
Nelson
Showers clearing this evening. Fine tomorrow.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Cold and showery, with possible thunder and hail at first. Snow to 200 metres in the south and 400 metres in the north. Showers becoming confined to the coast tonight, then clearing from everywhere except coastal Southland tomorrow. Overnight frosts inland.
Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Showers clearing this evening, but returning later tomorrow.
Chatham Islands
Showers. Colder tomorrow.
