STORM warning for COOK
Wellington Harbour and the south coast from Sinclair Head to Baring Head.
A deep low system approaches the country from the Tasman Sea today, bringing a very strong north to northwest flow over the region.The low is expected to move away to the east and weaken on Monday,with an associated front becoming slow-moving over the North Island.Another complex low system should affect the country during Tuesday and early Wednesday.
Sunday: Northerly 30 knots gusting 40 knots rising to 40 knots gusting 55 knots this morning, then easing to northwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots late this evening. Rough sea, becoming very rough for a time this morning and afternoon. Poor visibility in rain developing this morning.
Outlook until midnight Wednesday: Monday: Easing to variable 10 knots late afternoon. Early rain. Tuesday: Northerly 20 knots developing. Rain developing. Wednesday: Northerly 20 knots easing. Early rain clearing.
Swell forecast to midnight Wednesday: For the Wellington South Coast and Palliser Bay: Southerly 1 metre easing to half a metre Sunday. For Castlepoint: Southerly 1.5 metres, easing to one metre or less Sunday. Northeast 1 metre developing Monday.
